Does duct cleaning work?

Ducts are connected to your HVAC system, and they provide ways to move hot or cold air throughout your home. Cleaning your ductwork helps remove pet hair, dust mites, pollen, mold, and other allergens that collect in the duct. Our tips will help you decide if you need to clean the duct for your home or office.

How often do you need to clean the ducts?

To ensure clean air in your home, air ducts should be cleaned every 3-5 years. However, the exact cleaning time depends on the configuration of the HVAC system and the environment. You can clean the ducts every year or more often, depending on your needs and capabilities.

How do I know when your duct needs to be cleaned?

The National Association of Duct Cleaners (NADCA) recommends that all homeowners clean their ducts in the following cases:

– You must definitely clean the duct after the construction of a new house or after completing home repairs. Dust from building materials can enter your ducts and should be removed as soon as possible so as not to damage the system.
– Recommended preventative cleaning every 3-5 years.
– Always service the air ducts each time you move to a new home unless you are sure that the previous homeowner regularly cleaned it for the last 2-3 years.
-Also, if you find mold or smell it, you need to clean the duct – otherwise it can harm your health.
-When rodents or insects are detected in the HVAC system, speedy cleaning of the paths is required.
